The EXPEDIUM® Anterior Spine System is a comprehensive, semi-rigid thoracolumbar trauma system that offers implant and instrument solutions designed to enhance speed, security and simplicity. This advanced spinal system establishes a new benchmark for ease of use by incorporating simplified implant locking technologies like single-screw tightening, drop-and-lock cross connectors and a uniquely designed closure mechanism that virtually eliminates cross threading and reduces head spreading forces generated during final tightening. Combined, these features minimise the number of steps required for construct assembly while maximising surgical efficiency and security.


Intended Use


The EXPEDIUM® Anterior Spine System is intended for anterolateral screw fixation to the T4 to L4 levels of the spine, with all metal at least 1 cm from a major vessel. The EXPEDIUM Anterior Spine System may be used in either thoracoscopic procedures or open procedures.


The EXPEDIUM® Anterior Spine System is indicated for:

  • Degenerative disc disease (DDD) defined as back pain of discogenic origin with degeneration of the disc confirmed by history and radiographic studies
  • Spondylolisthesis
  • Trauma (i.e., fracture or dislocation)
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Deformities or curvatures (i.e., scoliosis, kyphosis, and/or lordosis)
  • Tumour
  • Pseudarthrosis
  • Previous failed fusion

Features & Benefits

Single Innie Set Screw

  • Unique square thread design virtually eliminates cross-threading and significantly reduces implant head spread.


Cross Connector

  • Simple, single-screw tightening, drop and lock design.


Monoaxial Screws

  • Low-profile, top-loading/top tightening screws.
  • Semi-blunt tip is specifically designed for bi-cortical fixation.

Vertebral Body Staples

  • Optional staple templates help select the proper sized staple for each vertebral body.
  • Four (4) staples sizes are optimized for thoracolumbar applications.  Staples have been designed to "hug" the vertebral body in both the axial and coronal planes, which allows them to seat lower on the bone.
  • Central spike design helps fine tune staple's location on vertebral body before impacting and also prevents "drifting" during impaction.
