About this procedure

Arthroplasty is an operation where a painful, degenerated disc is removed and replaced by a ball and socket implant that is intended to allow motion.

In this procedure, mobility in the motion segment is retained in comparison with fusion operations where mobility is lost.

Professional Education

DePuy Synthes Spine company policy requires training prior to the use of PRODISC C systems. The minimum requirements of the Surgeon Education Program include lectures, didactic discussions and hands-on training in a cadaveric bioskills lab and/or observation of a live PRODISC surgery with an approved surgeon faculty member. DePuy Synthes Spine offers a number of Preceptorship opportunities throughout the year.
