The TPAL™ System is a “kidney bean” style implant for use in TLIF surgery, which employs several ease of use features. The implant has pyramidal teeth as well as rails on the surface and a self-distracting bullet nose to facilitate a guided insertion technique.

The cages are offered in two footprints, 11 heights and a lordotic angle of 5° (0° for 7mm height spacers). The unique features include TRACK TECHNOLOGY™ and an articulating inserter which allows for better placement of the cage through an open or MIS approach.

The TPAL System applicator features one instrument for the insertion of the cage and trials. The applicator features a pivoting option for controlled insertion as well as rigid 0° and 80° positioning of the implant.

The TPAL cage and applicator work in conjunction to allow a Guided Insertion Technique. Trial implants can be placed at the final cage position.

 

Intended Use

Indications
Indications are lumbar and lubosacral pathologies in which segmental spondylodesis is indicated, for example:

  • Degenerative disc diseases and spinal instabilities
  • Revision procedures for post-discectomy syndrome
  • Pseudarthrosis or failed spondylodesis
  • Degenerative spondylolisthesis
  • Isthmic spondylolisthesis
     

Contraindications

  • Vertebral body fractures
  • Spinal tumours
  • Major spinal instabilities
  • Primary spinal deformities
  • Osteoporosis
     

Important: T-PAL must be applied in combination with posterior fixation.

The anterior radiographic marker pins enable visualization of the anterior cage position verifying placement. The 1.4 mm diameter pins are located approximately 2mm from the anterior edge of the cage

The radiographic marker pin at tip enable visualization of the cage tip for position control during insertion.
The 1.4 mm diameter, 5 mm long pin is located in the middle of the cage,
and stops at the bullet nose tip of the cage
Axial window Accommodates autogenous bone graft or bone graft substitute to allow fusion to occur through the cage
Lordotic angle 5° to restore the natural spine lordotic curve (except for the 7 mm height)
